Christ brings reconciliation

I like to write. Sometimes I write songs. Rarely do I write hymns. The last time I tried was the last time I was preparing to preach from Colossians 1:11-20. It’s been a few years . . .  and I’m trying again.  This time, however, the hymn quoted in Colossians 1:15-20, gets a different flavor than last time. I've selected the tune Hanson Place. You will be familiar with that tune, as it is the same one used to sing “Shall We Gather at the River.” I think we’ll sing it sometime during worship on Sunday in Somonauk. Feel free to try it wherever you are, too.

Christ Brings Reconciliation (based on Colossians 1:15-20)

Unseen God we see in Jesus
First of all that God has made
All there is, right here in earth and heaven
Through and for him originate

Christ brings reconciliation
Peace and joyous jubilation
Christ brings reconciliation
All are reconciled to God

Christ reigns over all his precious church
And together keeps all things
In the Christ God’s fullness - pleased to dwell
And we worship Christ our king

Christ brings reconciliation
Peace and joyous jubilation
Christ brings reconciliation
All are reconciled to God

Christ brings reconciliation
Peace and joyous jubilation
Christ brings reconciliation
All are reconciled to God

Sing it anywhere you want – but talk to me if you’re gonna sell it.
