How coffee got me to work out

I've been truant in working out (except for shoveling a whole lot of snow) since I made the resolution to lose 32 pounds in January. (Update: I'm down 13 pounds as of today.) Granted, I didn't make a resolution to work out more regularly, either. This week, as I am also in the throes of the "Are Your A Bigger Loser than Marko?" contest, I've been just on the edge of getting sick. (I've been keeping just ahead of it!) But yesterday I got an invitation to work out that I couldn't refuse. I'd talked to some people at a production company who are making a documentary film about making great coffee. They asked if I could meet them today at the recreation center in Warrenville, IL to shoot a scene where I asked a question about coffee while I was working out. I got there a bit earlier than they did and so I got up on the elliptical and went to town! When the film crew arrived I had broken a great sweat and my heart rate was going well too. I got to ask the question, "Do you prefer metal or paper filters?" to a coffee expert. (They'll answer in the film. My part was just to look like a guy working out and asking a coffee question.) I worked out all through the shoot (except when I had to step off to save a light from falling over.) 300 burned calories later -- we were done.

If only I could get invited to be in a documentary film every day . . .
