Never put a q-tip

In yours or any other ear canal, right?

I have another, new, q-tip rule.

If you're a dog and you're eating a q-tip, never accidentally cough it up into your nasal cavity and then get sick and have to have a rhinoscopy to find it and remove it.

Our dog, Molly, is now on the mend. I think the q-tip fragment looks a little like a muppet. Maybe I can sell it on ebay to recoup the vet costs!

Cat Jail

I got a call from the Warrenville Police Department today. One of the family cats, Lightning, spent the night in cat jail for wandering a mile from our home without any rabies tags.
Wandering around -- definitely.
No rabies tags? He did have them on his collar -- but the collar was gone when he was found.
I talked with Lightning about where he lost is collar, but he's stubborn -- he won't give up any information.
He wouldn't talk to the animal control workers either, but the AVID chip that he got as a kitten from the Fox Valley Animal Welfare League gave him away. Now he's at home -- grounded until we decide what to do about the lost collar and rabies tag. We also have to figure out how to have him reimburse us for his $38 bail.
I hope he learns from this experience.

The Cat Came Back

Last night my daughter and I were driving on a road about 6 miles from our house when my daughter exclaimed, "There's Lightning!" (our cat) We turned around to find the cat still nearby. We called him by his name and he stopped, meowed, and rolled over on his back. We picked him up and brought him home.

Lightning has been missing since October 2004 -- we were sure he was no longer a living cat.

Now he's at home begging to go out.
