Get over yourself

Here's this week's Bible study blog post:

Elijah won battles. He was fierce and unstoppable. He was a powerful prophet. And then Jezebel told him she was going to get him. In this week’s reading from 1 Kings 19, Elijah became scared. He went to hide and decided that he was in danger, all alone, and about to die.

What happened? The Elijah trap. He thought he was God’s one and only hope. He was isolated and scared. If he failed, God failed.

"I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away."

He wasn’t alone. He wasn’t God’s one and only hope. If he failed, God did not fail.

You are not alone. You are not God’s one and only hope. If you fail, God does not fail.

Thoughts?
