Center of attention

Here's this week's Bible study blog entry for i.ucc:

I’m a show-off.

I admit it – there’s something wired into me that
  • Likes to be noticed
  • Loves to be in front of a crowd
  • Likes to hear myself speak
Sure, I don’t walk around town begging people to notice me, nor do I try to be the one who gets all the honor at community dinners. I don’t care if people use a proper title when talking to or about me, either. But I have to admit – I like wearing the pastor’s robe – I like the looks of respect people give when they see it.

And I know I don’t always follow my own advice.

I’m a hypocrite.

What stirs in you relating to this week’s Bible reading from Matthew 23:1-12?

I don't think your a hypocrite. I believe that every believer is noticed and wants to be noticed from time to time. I think it is natural. Not sin. It is a matter of the heart.

I want you to know that I really enjoyed your blog. You do a fantastic job. I will be praying for you, your family and ministry that you will be richly blessed by God.
I have added your blog to my favs list. Keepup the great work! :-)
I hope you and your family have a great week.

Thanks, preacherman.
I beleive too, that we all want to be noticed -- either much of the time or from time to time.
I also recognize the hyporcisy of desiring fame in any form.
But through all of that, I trust that God can use even hypocrites like me for God's purposes.

I also write things like that hoping that folks will think a little more than they would if they didn't read . . .
