Oak Lawn, IL had a creative idea for getting drivers to pay attention to city stop signs. They put 'sub-signs' underneath the stop signs with phrases that would get drivers to notice - and hopefully pay heed to the fact that stop signs mean . . . stop.
The Illinois Department of Transportation didn't see the humor or the legality of the signs -- so now they're stopped.
