Illinois Conference Annual Meeting - Day 1

Four highlights:

  • Reconnecting with friends I haven't seen since last year at the annual meeting
  • Lorin Cope's introductory story about outrageous happiness and celebration on a plane that sat on the runway for 3 hours.
  • Lorin's challenge to us not to rest on our history (a history of being outrageous and progressive in continuing to become the church God calls us to be) but to boldly be the United Church of Christ -- United and Uniting and Called as partners in Christ’s service.
  • Meeting our professional parliamentarian for the meeting. We've got a big issue to discuss and Nancy Sylvester is the one to help us keep to the rules. She wrote The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Robert’s Rules and Guerrilla Guide to Roberts Rules.

Day two is about to begin . . .

Lorin Cope is one of the finest and most genuine person I've ever met. You are very lucky!
