Charles Barkley and the UCC?

Mr. Barkley has never shied away from speaking his mind. He's also never shied away from going strong to the basket for a hoop or a rebound. (OK -- he doesn't play anymore, but he never did when he played.)
Now he's speaking as a person who might want to try his hand at running for Governor in Alabama, sounds like someone who is looking for a UCC church to attend:
Here's what Charles said:

“Religious people in general are so discriminatory against other people, and that really disturbs me,” he said. “My idea of religion is we all love and respect. We all sin, but we still have common decency and respect for other people. So right now I’m struggling with my idea of what religion is.

I'm get what you mean, Charles. Although I think that you've experienced only one way religious people can act. None of us are perfect. For a different perspective, I hope you'll come and visit us in the UCC-- because you are welcome -- no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey. If you're ever in the Chicago area, c'mon over!

Oh, that Charles! He sure does know what to say to get attention...

The buzz has been going for months about him running for gov down here in the Heart of Dixie. Problem is, we have a governor right now who seems to be doing a decent job. And that's a rare thing. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
