Like Visiting Home

I worshipped at the Congregational Church of Batavia yesterday. It really felt like I was visiting home after being away for awhile.

I served as director, and then minister, of Christian Education and Youth there from 1994-99. It was nice to see so many familiar faces and to have such an overwhelming sense of welcome.

The senior pastor is an absolute genius. He preached that God, as our creator, has the right to punish us for violating God's being. Instead, God forgives us.

I was particularly moved by a solo sung by a high schooler who was so much younger when I served in Batavia.

God is still filling my soul with awe.
