A friend of mine was leading worship and preaching at Streamwood Immanuel United Church of Christ yesterday -- so I showed up unexpectedly.
The whole place was filled with welcome, friendliness, comfort and smiles.
OK -- nobody sang very loud, but I've gotten used to that in the UCC. (Not every UCC church I've been to are "quiet singers", but many are.)
The sermon challenged us to stop making, describing and trying to experience God in our image. God is God -- God loves the world. God is not on "our side." God is on God's side. That's where we have to be too.
There was great cake during coffee hour too!
