Live out loud
Here's this week's i.ucc Bible study blog entry:
Do actions speak louder than words? Do words speak louder than actions? Can actions speak without words? Can words speak without actions? Can I stop asking questions so we can all get a breath before discussing?
Steven Curtis Chapman writes many songs that are fun to sing. One of my favorites is one from 2001: “Live out Loud.” Here are a few of the lyrics that make me really smile:
Wake the neighbors
Get the word out
Come on, crank up the music,
climb a mountain and shout
This is life we've been given,
made to be lived out
So, la, la, la, la, live out loud
This week’s Bible reading from 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 is one that encourages the folks in a house church in (try to say this one 10 times fast!) Thessalonica to continue to live their lives letting their actions and words match each other. I wonder if the words were really encouraging a group of folks who too often missed the mark of matching words and actions to do better. I wonder if Paul was really encouraging the folks in Thessalonica to know that they could, and to continue (or start) living out loud.
What do you think it meant to Thessalonica? What does in mean in our lives today?
